Brandon

Lead Pastor After holding ministries in Texas and Missouri, Brandon moved with his family to
New Mexico in November of 2001 to become the Lead Pastor of Valley View
Christian Church in Edgewood. Brandon is a native of Bucklin, KS (27 miles
southeast of Dodge City since you had to ask) and grew up attending the Bucklin
Christian Church, where he accepted Christ at the age of 10. He completed
a BA in Bible & Pastoral Ministries from Dallas Christian College in 1994 and a
Masters in Biblical and Related Studies from Abilene Christian University in
1996. While at Dallas Christian, Brandon met Tara Navarre. On December
19, 1992 they married in Norman, OK. Brandon and Tara have four wonderful
children Zachary, Libbie, Joel & Seth.
Leonard

Involvement Pastor After serving in churches in New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, Leonard
joined the staff of Valley View in September of 2007. Leonard was born and
raised in Lake Charles, LA. At that age of 9, Leonard gave his life to Christ
and was baptized at church camp in Lake Arthur, LA. He grew up attending First
Church of Christ is Lake Charles. Leonard graduated with a BA from Dallas
Christian College in 1971. He also holds an MA in Religious Studies from
Bellford University. While studying at Dallas Christian College, he met and
married his wife Diana. Leonard and Diana have two children, both of whom are
involved in fulltime ministry. Tara Shaffer, their daughter is married to
Valley View’s lead pastor Brandon Shaffer. The two have four children: Zachary,
Libbie, Joel and Seth. Their son Brandon Navarre and his wife Lisa reside in
Rockdale, TX where Brandon serves as the pastor of Forest Grove Christian
Church. Brandon and Lisa have two daughters Madeline and Abbie.
Before coming
to Valley View, Leonard spent 40 years in the preaching ministry. He is also a
Licensed Church Consultant through Church Central and is available for speaking

Sue Schoening

Sue was born is Stamford, CT and
moved to California with here family in 1963. She worked for the US Postal
Service for 32 years, which is where she met her husband John. Sue and John
moved from San Diego to Edgewood in 2002. They very much enjoy the very
different New Mexico lifestyle, being near family and serving the Lord at Valley
View. Sue and John have one son
Bryan. Bryan and his wife Peggy live in Colorado with their two children
Brandon and Jenna. Sue feels that God has truly blessed her with a wonderful
marriage, family and life of contentment. She gave her life to Christ is 1985
and believes that it was the best and most important choice she ever made.
Valley View
Elders:
Tom Schafer
Tom was born and raised in the Albuquerque area. He accepted Christ through a
campus ministry while in high school. Tom met and married his wife, Teri, in
1985. Since then the two of them have been blessed with five children. Tom has
been involved with Youth for Christ as a river raft guide and leader as well as
being a board member of the Carenet Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque. Together,
Teri and Tom have been foster parents with Families for Children for over eight
years. At Valley View, Tom has been involved with teaching kids of all ages as
well as adults. Every now and then, Tom is given the privilege of preaching when
Brandon is out of town. Tom’s goal in life is to be known as a Christian man of
integrity who is the ultimate husband and father.
John
Schoening
John and his wife Sue moved to New Mexico after living in California for more
than 35 years. John is a Vietnam Veteran who went to work with the Post Office
where he met and married his wife Sue. The Lord has blessed them with a life of
being pretty much inseparable; working together at the Post Office everyday, at
home and in their service to the Lord. John is retired and Sue serves on the
Valley View staff as the office assistant and Director of Valley View Central.
They have a son Bryan, daughter-in-law, Peggy and two precious grandchildren
Brandon and Jenna who live in Colorado. John, Sue and Bryan all accepted Christ
as their Savior in 1985.
Jason
Weaver
Jason and his wife, Jeneane, grew up in Colorado and moved to New Mexico when they were married in 1986. They both have attended church all their lives and accepted Christ in their teenage years. They first attended Valley View Christian Church in January, 1987, just weeks after Valley View began. The Weavers have three teenage children – Josh, Whitney, and Ashley. Jason and Jeneane started studying God’s plan for marriage in 1992 and began hosting a small group marriage study a few years later. They are still very active in leading biblical marriage studies at Valley View. Jason works as a structural engineer in Albuquerque and Jeneane is a stay-at-home Mom who is very active in numerous church activities as well as volunteering in the community and providing day care for friends.
